NEW DELHI: Ahead of the ICC Champions Trophy 2025, Virat Kohli’s childhood coach Rajkumar Sharma has shown confidence that the star batter will bounce back from his recent poor form and deliver outstanding performances that have characterised his career.
In a conversation with ANI, Rajkumar stated: “Just because some matches went bad, does not mean the player is out-of-touch. When you look at his previous records, you will see what he did for the country. I believe that he will be performing like the champion player he always has been.”

During the recent ODI series against England, Virat participated in two matches. He sat out the first ODI due to a knee issue and scored five and 52 runs in the subsequent matches. Virat will strive to regain his form in the Champions Trophy commencing February 19.
Regarding the team’s prospects in the tournament, Rajkumar expressed, “The chances are really there and India is among the favourites. The team is very strong.”

Discussing Jasprit Bumrah’s absence from the tournament due to a back injury, coach Rajkumar indicated that India would feel the loss of his crucial early wickets and death over expertise. Young bowler Harshit Rana has been selected as his replacement.
“It is unfortunate because Bumrah is our ace fast-bowler and his presence will be missed. I consider him as number one bowler as he brings breakthroughs in initial stages and does well in death overs too,” said Rajkumar.
