Who are the 10 people PM Modi chose to lead the fight against obesity?

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday nominated 10 public figures to lead a campaign against obesity and excessive edible oil consumption.
This follows Prime Minister’s ‘Mann Ki Baat’ address, where he emphasised the growing concern of obesity in India and the need to control oil consumption in daily diets. He encouraged people to take the challenge of reducing their oil intake by 10% and motivate others to do the same.
Announcing his initiative on X, the Prime Minister wrote, “I would like to nominate the following people to help strengthen the fight against obesity and spread awareness on reducing edible oil consumption in food. I also request them to nominate 10 people each so that our movement gets bigger.”
PM Modi also urged each nominee to select 10 more individuals, ensuring a wider reach for the movement.
The nominees include political leaders, business figures, athletes, and entertainment industry stars. Among them are Jammu and Kashmir chief minister Omar Abdullah, Mahindra Group Chairman Anand Mahindra, actor Mohanlal, and weightlifter Mirabai Chanu. Others include singer Shreya Ghoshal, actor R Madhavan, philanthropist and MP Sudha Murty, Bhojpuri singer-actor Nirahua, shooter Manu Bhaker, and Infosys co-founder Nandan Nilekani.
During his radio programme, PM Modi also featured messages from renowned personalities, including Olympic gold medallist Neeraj Chopra, who supported the mission to promote a healthier lifestyle.
Apart from addressing health concerns, the 119th episode of ‘Mann Ki Baat’ also highlighted India’s space achievements. Modi praised ISRO’s 100th rocket launch and key missions like Chandrayaan, Mangalyaan, and Aditya L-1.
Additionally, he announced that he would hand over his social media accounts to inspiring women on National Women’s Day to celebrate their contributions.
