Watch: Mississippi lieutenant governor Delbert Hosemann collapses on Senate podium while giving speech

Several senators and staff members were stunned when Mississippi lieutenant governor Delbert Hosemann collapsed suddenly on the senate floor Wednesday.
Dramatic videos of Hosemann collapsing on the floor have gone viral on social media platforms like X making users worried. Video footage showed Hosemann standing at the podium when he suddenly leaned forward and fell to the floor. Several senators and staff members rushed to assist him, and the Senate quickly recessed.
He later assured the public that he was feeling fine, attributing the incident to dehydration.
A short while later, Hosemann’s office released a statement saying he was “doing well and in good spirits,” thanking medical staff for their quick response. In a personal statement, the 77-year-old Republican leader reassured Mississippians that he was feeling better.
“I am grateful for Mississippi’s phenomenal medical professionals and am ready to go back to work tomorrow,” Hosemann said. “Lesson learned: Stay hydrated.”
Governor Tate Reeves expressed his support, posting on X that he and his wife were praying for Hosemann. State lawmakers also shared messages of concern and encouragement.
The health scare comes just a week after Hosemann introduced a $326 million tax cut proposal aimed at reducing state income and grocery taxes while increasing the gas tax to fund road improvements. He had emphasized the need for a “sustainable” plan to balance tax reductions and infrastructure funding.
