The highly anticipated third season of The White Lotus had a strong debut, drawing in 2.4 million viewers on its premiere night. This includes both traditional HBO viewers and those streaming on Max. The latest season has significantly outperformed its predecessors, with viewership increasing by 57% compared to the Season 2 premiere in 2022, which had 1.5 million viewers. The numbers are even more impressive when compared to the series’ debut in 2021, which brought in 944,000 viewers.
According to HBO, by the end of Monday, total viewership across all platforms in the U.S. had climbed to 4.6 million, marking a 90% jump from the same period following the Season 2 premiere. The network also shared that the previous season of the show went on to average 15.5 million viewers, while Season 1 reached an average of 9.3 million.
The latest installment of The White Lotus has also received positive reviews from critics, currently holding a 93% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes. The show, which takes place at a fictional luxury resort, is set in Koh Samui, Thailand, this time around. The previous two seasons were set in Hawaii and Sicily, respectively.
The new season features a star-studded ensemble cast, including returning Season 1 actor Natasha Rothwell. Other notable cast members include Jason Isaacs, Parker Posey, Carrie Coon, Leslie Bibb, Michelle Monaghan, Walton Goggins, Aimee Lou Wood, Patrick Schwarzenegger, Sarah Catherine Hook, and Sam Nivola.
The series was created by Mike White, who also serves as the director and executive producer. David Bernad and Mark Kamine are also executive producers on the project.
Ever since its premiere in 2021, The White Lotus has been a major success for HBO. The first season received 20 Emmy nominations and won 10 awards, including Best Limited or Anthology Series. The second season followed with an even greater achievement, earning 23 Emmy nominations.
With strong viewership numbers and positive critical reception, The White Lotus Season 3 is proving to be another hit for HBO. Fans are eager to see how the new storyline unfolds in its latest exotic setting.
