Samay Raina says 'main aisa aadmi nahi hoon' as he breaks the facade of comedy in old video: 'These jokes have no meaning'

Samay Raina’s show India’s Got Latent faced backlash after Ranveer Allahbadia’s viral inappropriate comment. Multiple FIRs were filed against them, prompting Samay to delete all episodes. While he remains silent, an old video of him discussing comedy’s lack of deeper meaning has resurfaced and gone viral.
In a resurfaced clip from his 2024 Ahmedabad show, Samay Raina urges the audience to put down their phones and listen as he speaks sincerely. He clarifies that the statements he made during his performance don’t reflect his true personality, emphasizing that his words were part of the act.

When someone in the audience accused him of a cover-up, Samay Raina quickly responded, denying it and insisting he was trying to convey something meaningful. He then gestured, implying that he could have simply ended his set with jokes instead of addressing the audience sincerely.

Samay Raina goes on to explain that comedy is just a facade, with jokes crafted solely to entertain. He emphasizes that they hold no deeper meaning, comparing them to cheat codes in a game. Referring to an earlier joke, he clarifies that it wasn’t true, highlighting how comedians create content that resonates with audiences for entertainment and earnings.
Samay Raina is currently touring Canada and the U.S. with his stand-up show Samay Raina Unfiltered, recently performing at Edmonton’s Myer Horowitz Theater. Meanwhile, cyber police have issued him a summons and refused his request to record his statement via videoconferencing.
