Former WWE wrestler Saurav Gurjar warns Ranveer Allahbadia amid controversy

The India’s Got Latent found itself at the centre of controversy this week after, podcaster Ranveer Allahbadia, faced severe criticism for his remarks on parenting and sex. His comments, perceived as inappropriate by many, triggered widespread outrage and led to multiple complaints being filed across the country.

As the debate intensified, stand-up comedian Samay Raina also became embroiled in the issue. The matter has now reached Parliament, with the communications and IT panel directing the Information and Broadcasting Ministry to submit a comprehensive report on the controversy by February 17.

Amidst the uproar, former WWE wrestler Saurav Gurjar strongly condemned Ranveer Allahbadia’s statements. In a video posted on X, Gurjar did not hold back his frustration, calling for strict action against the podcaster.

In the two-minute video, he directly warned Allahbadia, stating that if they were to cross paths in Mumbai, not even his security detail would be able to protect him.

Responding to the controversy, Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis clarified that the remarks had been presented in a misleading manner. While reiterating the importance of free speech, he asserted that it should not come at the cost of violating social norms or others’ rights. He assured that necessary action would be taken against any breaches of decency.

Former National Commission for Women (NCW) chief and Rajya Sabha MP Rekha Sharma also weighed in, expressing her shock over the remarks. She emphasised that such jokes, irrespective of gender, are unacceptable in society.
