Nawazuddin Siddiqui cried after Kamal Haasan cut his role from Hey Ram: 'Sir meri bohot beizzati hojayegi'

Nawazuddin Siddiqui has come a long way – from being a struggling actor to being considered one of the best actors in Indian cinema. He had started his career with some really small roles until ‘Gangs Of Wasseypur’ happened. One such role was for Kamal Haasan’s ‘Hey Ram’. But it was eventually cut from the film which left the actor heartbroken.
Nawazuddin recalled that moment when he came on ‘The Kapil Sharma Show’. The actor shared, “It’s premiere was held at Film City in Mumbai and I took at least 5-6 of my friends. I told them, ‘Boss Hey Ram aarahi hai, Maine kaam kia hai usmein (I have worked in that film).’ Everyone came. Before the film began, Kamal Haasan sahab came to me and said, ‘Nawaz, apne doston ko bol do ki tumhara role cut gaya hai (Tell your friends your role has been cut).” Nawaz responded to Kamal and said, “Sir meri bahut beizzati hojayegi.”
The actor went on to cry after this happened as he had invited some of his friends for the film. He added, “I went to my friends and I started crying and I told my friends that my role had been cut. I gave them the choice to watch the film or not but they wanted to watch it.” It was Kamal’s daughter Shruti Haasan who consoled him.
Meanwhile, Kamal had also reacted to this incident and said that he’s really proud of Nawazuddin. He was also an assistant director on ‘Hey Ram’. Kamal said, “I am proud of him. He was also an assistant director of Hey Ram. He was a fantastic actor even then, wo footage ki wajah se scene cut ho gaya. He’s talking about it casually now, but that day he was heartbroken.”
