Samsung is deepening its manufacturing footprint in India, highlighting the country’s importance in the global electronics supply chain.Union minister Ashwini Vaishnaw said on Saturday that the South Korean technology major is adding to its production portfolio in India. The company already operates its second-largest mobile phone plant worldwide in the country and stands as India’s second-biggest handset exporter after Apple.“Samsung continues to expand manufacturing of its advanced technology devices in Bharat, driven by talent and innovation. Its research unit in Bharat has more than 7,000 engineers,” Vaishnaw wrote in a post on social media platform X.The minister also posted a photograph of his meeting with Samsung Southwest Asia President and CEO JB Park, along with corporate vice president SP Chun.Earlier this year, TM Roh, Samsung Electronics president and head of Mobile eXperience (MX) Business, confirmed that the company was preparing to start laptop production in India, PTI reported.Samsung already makes all the smartphones it sells in the country, including its premium models. The Galaxy Z Fold7 is priced between Rs 1.74 lakh and Rs 2.11 lakh, while the Galaxy Z Flip7 is available in the range of Rs 1.09 lakh to Rs 1.22 lakh.
