Mahakumbh: Devotees flock to Swachh Sujal Gaon's water testing lab

MAHAKUMBH NAGAR: The Jal Jeevan Mission‘s ‘Swachh Sujal Gaon‘ exhibition in Sector-7 of Mahakumbh area is educating devotees about the transformative impact of the mission on rural lives. Visitors are learning how the mission is providing clean drinking water to rural household and how this water is better in quality in comparison to other water sources.
One of the attractions at the exhibition is the on-site water testing laboratory, where devotees from Prayagraj and surrounding districts are getting their water samples tested. Various organizations participating in the exhibition are also utilizing the laboratory to test the purity of water and promote awareness about water quality.
The devotees are being educated on how to test the quality of water in their villages. The on-site Water Testing Laboratory is providing visitors with crucial information on the ideal pH levels and Total Dissolved Solids (TDS) for drinking water.

50-70 water samples being tested daily

The on-site water testing laboratory is testing around 50-70 water samples daily from Prayagraj and surrounding districts. In addition to individual devotees, various organizations participating in the exhibition are also getting their water samples tested at the laboratory. The lab’s staff, led by chemist Dhananjay Singh, analyses each sample against nine standard parameters, providing detailed information on water quality. The laboratory’s daily testing capacity often exceeds 70 samples, demonstrating the growing interest in water quality among locals and visitors alike.
Water samples are tested to check nine crucial parameters– Chloride, Hardness, Iron, Nitrate, Fluoride, Chlorine, pH, Turbidity and Alkalinity. These parameters help assess the quality and safety of drinking water.
The exhibition is also showcasing the success story of Bundelkhand, which was once plagued by water scarcity but now boasts tap water connections in every household. The initiative highlights the benefits of clean drinking water and promotes water conservation through interactive games and digital displays.
