KU hosts 34th convocation ceremony, confers Haryana CM Nayab Saini with honorary doctor of literature award

Kurukshetra:

The Kurukshetra University (KU) organised its 34th convocation ceremony at Srimad Bhagavad Gita Sadan at varsity campus, conferring degrees upon its graduates on Tuesday.
Presiding over the convocation ceremony which was presided over by Haryana Governor Bandaru Dattatraya, approximately 2,000 students were awarded degrees, 130 registered PhD holders received their doctoral degrees, and 91 registered students were presented with gold medals and merit certificates.
During the event, Haryana chief minister (CM) Nayab Singh Saini received an honorary doctor of literature in social science for his outstanding contributions to social and political spheres. Former Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) chairman and current Space Commission chairman S Somanath, was awarded an honorary doctor of science and the Goyal Peace Prize in recognition of his significant contributions to science and humanity.
In his address as Haryana CM Nayab Saini highlighted Haryana’s achievements in research, sports and culture, attributing much of this success to KU’s commendable role. He emphasized the importance of startups, the expansion of women’s colleges, academic and industrial partnerships and the pivotal role of youth in skill development. CM emphasized the role of youth as pivotal in realizing Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of a developed India by 2047.
Saini highlighted the state’s commitment to providing quality education, noting the establishment of 79 new colleges in the past decade, 30 of which are exclusively for women. Saini also said that the government’s focus is on skill development, aiming to align education with industry needs and ensure employment opportunities for the youth.
Haryana Governor Dattatraya underscored the importance of the Indian knowledge system, value-based education, self-employment, and character development as outlined in the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020. He also lauded KU for its NAAC and NIRF rankings.
Haryana education minister Mahipal Singh Dhanda urged the youth to commit to positioning India as a ‘Vishav Guru’ (global leader) by 2047. S Somanath expressed gratitude for the honorary degree and under the leadership of PM Modi, anticipated India’s establishment of a space station in the near future.
KU vice-chancellor Prof Som Nath Sachdeva welcomed the esteemed guests, noting that convocation marks the commencement of a lifelong educational journey.
