Is Taapsee Pannu the new lead in Subhash Ghai’s 'Aitraaz 2'? Here's what we know...

Subhash Ghai is gearing up for ‘Aitraaz 2,’ the sequel to his 2004 thriller Aitraaz, and reports suggest that Taapsee Pannu is being considered for the lead role. While the actress has not yet signed on the dotted line, a report reveals that she has been given a script reading and is intrigued by the storyline.
According to India Today Digital, Pannu has not officially confirmed her participation, nor has Mukta Arts made an announcement. However, if she comes on board, the film could mark yet another bold performance in her repertoire, as she is known for choosing strong, independent female characters.
The first ‘Aitraaz’, released in 2004, featured Priyanka Chopra Jonas in a groundbreaking femme fatale role. At the time, Subhash Ghai acknowledged the risk Priyanka took by portraying a powerful and ambitious woman, a role that defied conventional portrayals of female leads in Bollywood. Reflecting on this, Ghai recently wrote on social media, “PRIYANKA CHOPRA DARED AND DID IT. That’s why cine lovers can not forget her performance even after 20 years today in Aitraaz—produced by Mukta Arts.”
He further added, “Now, Mukta Arts is ready for ‘Aitraaz 2’ with a finely crafted script, developed over three years. Just wait and watch.”
If Taapsee Pannu takes on the role, it would be in line with her career choices, as she has frequently portrayed women with depth and agency in films like ‘Thappad,’ ‘Pink’, and ”Haseen Dillruba’. The film is set to be directed by Amit Rai, who previously helmed Oh My God 2.
Meanwhile, Taapsee was last seen in SRK’s ‘Dunki’ which was directed by Rajkumar Hirani. The movie turned out to be a blockbuster.

After wrapping up ‘Dunki’ and ‘Phir Aayi Haseen Dillruba’; Taapsee Pannu is enjoying free time at her ‘favorite’ holiday spot
