India's Got Latent row: Samay Raina’s old video of mocking a 2-month-old child’s medical condition goes viral; Netizens call him 'mentally ill'

He has also been asked to deposit his passport as he isn’t allowed to leave the country. Samay Raina was also summoned by the Maharashtra cyber cell to record his statement in person. Amid this ongoing legal drama, an old video of Samay Raina has resurfaced. In the said video the ‘India’s Got Latent’ fame Samay Raina can be seen making crude jokes about a two-month-old infant’s medical condition.
The video that has been going viral on social media shows Samay mocking a life-saving injection worth ₹16 crore that a two-month-old baby needed for its survival. Samay joked and speculated about the parents’ reaction; said even they might have second thoughts on receiving a large sum of money.
“A two-month-old baby needs a ₹16 crore injection. If you were the mother and suddenly got ₹16 crore in your bank account, you would at least show your husband and say… inflation is rising,” he said in an old show in front of a live audience.
He took the joke to another level when he said that even if they give the infant the ‘oh-so expensive’ injection, the chances of its survival were not certain.
“If the baby doesn’t survive, how much money will be wasted? And if he survives after spending ₹16 crores only to grow up and say he wants to be a poet,” he added and then mimicked the mother’s hypothetical reaction.
The video has added to the ongoing controversy. Netizens have labeled the video and the Indian comic distasteful and insensitive.
“Some comedians don’t know where to draw the line. They lose all sense of empathy and eventually become immune to human suffering,” read a comment. Another netizen wrote “Those who continue to back Samay Raina should reconsider their actions before speaking. It is not a topic to giggle about. if you find it amusing, you are seriously ill.”
“This boy who considers himself a stand-up comedian is so mentally ill that even an injection worth Rs 16 crores cannot cure his illness. Nor can it cure his sick listeners who are laughing out loud at his disgusting talk,” commented another user.
