‘India's Got Latent’ Row: Ranveer Allahbadia’s SC hearing to Samay Raina’s rejected request - Everything to know about the legal drama

The ‘India’s Got Latent’ controversy has been in the news for quite some time now. Outsparked after Ranveer Allahabadia’s provocative ‘would you rather’ question, the controversy took a serious turn when the law got involved. As we speak, today the Supreme Court will have Ranveer Allahbadia’s plea hearing against multiple FIRs. Amid all this, the National Commission for Women (NCW) gave fresh dates to Ranveer Allahbadia and others after they failed to appear on the earlier set date.
And it doesn’t end here! From the plea hearing to the rejection of the request to new dates, a lot is happening in the legal drama amid the ‘India’s Got Latent’ controversy. Here’s everything you need to know:
With a Supreme Court bench of Justices Surya Kant and N Kotiswar Singh, Ranveer Allahbadia’s plea will be heard today, i.e. on Tuesday, February 18. The infamous YouTuber and podcaster is seeking consolidation of multiple FIRs against him. However, reports suggest that police have stated Ranveer has been ‘continuously out of contact’ amid the investigation.
Meanwhile, Ranveer will be represented by lawyer Abhinav Chandrachud, son of former Chief Justice of India, DY Chandrachud. Ranveer’s choice of representation created a lot of buzz.
Further, Ranveer Allahbadia, Samay Raina, and others were supposed to appear on the National Commission for Women (NCW) summon at 12 pm on Monday, but they failed to do the same. Following the same, NCW gave a fresh date of March 6 to Ranveer Allahbadia, Samay Raina, Apoorva Mukhija, Ashish Chanchlani, and others.
On the other hand, the cyber cell Samay Raina is also supposed to come and record his statement on Tuesday, February 18. He requested to sign the statement virtually as he is in the United States and will return to India on March 17, but the same was rejected by the Maharashtra Cyber Cell. Further, Ranveer Allahbadia has been summoned by the cyber cell on February 24.
Meanwhile, Jaspreet Singh and Balraj Ghai have received fresh summons. They are supposed to appear on March 11.
Last but not least, a third FIR has been filed against the group. According to an India Today report, this FIR follows the already registered complaints against them in Mumbai and Guwahati (Assam).
