Hyderabad startup N Space Tech ropes in DRDO veteran Chakravarti as R&D head

HYDERABAD:Aerospace & defence startup N Space Tech has onboarded former Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) veteran Madhumita Chakravarti as its head of research and development.
Chakravarti, who has over 30 years of experience in defence research and played a pivotal role at Research Centre Imarat (RCI), will lead advancements in RF systems and aerospace technologies at Hyderabad-based N Space Tech, the startup said on Wednesday.
At the Hyderabad-based startup, she will oversee research initiatives in RF sensors, radar systems, and aerospace defence applications and will focus on strengthening indigenous defence capabilities and ensuring compliance with technical and operational requirements.
N Space Tech founder & director Divya Kothamasu said Chakravarti’s expertise in indigenous defence technologies aligns perfectly with the company’s mission to drive innovation in space and defence. “We are excited to have her lead our R&D efforts and propel us toward global competitiveness.”
At RCI, Chakravarti developed programmable and reconfigurable airborne RF sensors for air and missile defence programmes as well as multi-function RF chips for RF sensors. The systems designed by her are now deployed by the Indian Air Force and Indian Army as part of weapon systems.
Her contributions earned her several prestigious accolades, including DRDO’s Path Breaking Technology Award (2010, 2017), the INAE Woman Engineer of the Year Award (2021), and recognition as one of India’s 75 notable women engineers.
The Hyderabad-based startup said under Chakravarti’s leadership it aims to reinforce India’s position in defence and aerospace technology through research-driven advancements. The emerging defence and aerospace startup is focused on developing advanced technologies for national security and space exploration and specialises in RF sensors, radar systems, and electronic warfare solutions.
