Fire breaks out at Vicky Kaushal's 'Chhaava' screening; audience escapes unharmed - WATCH

Vicky Kaushal’s Chhaava literally set the screen ablaze at a theatre in New Delhi.
A viral video doing the rounds online saw a fire breaking out during the screening of the historical drama at a screening on Wednesday evening. According to reports, the fire broke out around 5:44 PM, prompting the immediate dispatch of six fire tenders to the scene. The Delhi Fire Services (DFS) states that the blaze was brought under control within 10 minutes, and no injuries were reported.
A spokesperson for the mall later issued a statement citing a short circuit incident at the adjoining multiplex as the cause of the fire. “There was no harm to any human life,” the statement read.
A video of the incident surfaced on social media that saw the audience being escorted out of the screening while the upper corner of the screen burned away in the flames. Veer Singh, who was present during the screening, shared his experience with PTI, saying, “When people realized that a fire had broken out inside the hall and smoke was billowing, they started screaming. It was a small fire. As the fire alarm went off, cinema hall staff came in and asked everyone to leave quickly.”
Chhaava has been having a phenomenal run at the box office and has already crossed the Rs 350 crore mark in India. The film is now on track to surpass the Rs 500 crore milestone. Amid its success in the Hindi-speaking regions, the film is now all set to release in Telugu. The film’s production house dropped a poster featuring Vicky Kaushal as Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj, along with a caption announcing that the film is now set to release in Telugu on “popular demand.”
Directed by Laxman Utekar, Chhaava is a period drama based on the life of Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj, the eldest son of the Maratha empire’s founder. Vicky plays the titular role, while Rashmika Mandanna portrays his wife, Yesubai Bhonsale. The film also stars Akshaye Khanna, Ashutosh Rana, and Divya Dutta in key roles.
