Did Kareena Kapoor Khan back out of Meghna Gulzar's film to work with Sandeep Reddy Vanga's Spirit with Prabhas? Here's what we know

Kareena Kapoor Khan has reportedly decided not to work on Meghna Gulzar’s film Daayra. Instead, she will team up with Animal director Sandeep Reddy Vanga for the film Spirit, which also stars Prabhas.
According to a report in Bollywood Bubble, Kareena was initially in talks for Meghna Gulzar’s film Daayra. However, she shifted her focus to Spirit, drawn by its compelling script and grand scale, and her collaboration with director Sandeep Reddy Vanga, marking a new direction in her career.

Kareena, after her recent OTT releases Jaane Jaan and Singham Again, is eager to make a box-office comeback. While she values quality content, she reportedly recognises that strong storytelling alone doesn’t guarantee market success. To broaden her appeal, she’s teamed up with director Sandeep Reddy Vanga for Spirit, which promises a larger scale and impactful narrative.

If true, Kareena’s shift to Spirit marks a significant change in her career, moving toward Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s intense storytelling style. Previously, Ayushmann Khurrana was also reported to have been part of Meghna Gulzar’s film but later dropped out. This marks a notable pivot in both actors’ project choices.
There has been no official confirmation about Bebo’s involvement in Spirit. Fans are eagerly waiting to see if she officially joins the project, making it one of the most anticipated casting news of the year.
Meghna Gulzar’s Daayra is reportedly based on a true story and slated for a 2026 release. Prithviraj Sukumaran will also star in the film.
On the work front, the actress was last seen in ‘Singham Again’ with Ajay Devgn, Ranveer Singh, Akshay Kumar and others.
