On June 4, the Delhi International Airport Limited office received a mail claiming that an Air Canada flight, which was to depart in a few minutes, carried a bomb

A 13-year-old kid has been traced as the person who had sent out the hoax mail threat to Delhi airport last week. During the investigation, the kid admitted that he had sent the mail as a prank trying to check if the authorities could track him down.

The minor accused has been produced before the JJB and the custody of the kid has been given to the parents.

On June 4, the Delhi International Airport Limited office received a mail claiming that an Air Canada flight, which was to depart in a few minutes, carried a bomb. However, the threat later turned out to be a hoax.

The aircraft, with 301 passengers and 16 crew members onboard, was evacuated and diverted to the isolation bay for security checks. Officials said nothing suspicious was found. The flight was later cancelled.

During the probe, it was revealed that the email ID, which was used to send out the threat, was created afresh just a few hours before sending the mail out. The email id was eventually deleted.

The police later traced the mail source which turned out to be from Uttar Pradesh’s Meerut and later, the kid was apprehended.

During the interrogation, the kid revealed that he got the idea of sending the hoax mail from media reports about a hoax bomb call at Mumbai airport.
