Bollywood currently is abuzz with the success of ‘Chhaava,’ a historical drama chronicling the tale of Marath warrior Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj’s courage and sacrifice. Headlined by Vicky Kaushal, the movie opened with the biggest numbers of 2025 so far and crossed the Rs.100 crore mark in its debut weekend. However, on its first Monday, Vicky Kaushal and Rashmika Mandanna’s historical drama saw a dip in the business as it went from Rs.48.5 crore (Sunday) to Rs.24 crore, as per Sacnilk report. Yet, the movie’s net collection in India stands at Rs. 140.50 crore.
Giving Vicky the biggest opening of his career, day one of ‘Chhaava’ recorded a business of Rs. 31 crore. Directed by Laxman Utekar, the film saw a 19.35% increase on Saturday with Rs 37 crore. The following Sunday was even better, as the collection saw a rise of over 30%, and the movie minted Rs 48.5 crore. According to the early estimates, Monday saw a drop and the film earned Rs.24 crore, making the total after 4 days of theatrical release – Rs. 140.50 crore. It has been usually seen that numbers shake following the debut weekend; thus, there’s nothing to read much between the lines.

Chhaava, inspired by the book of the same name, tells the story of one of India’s legendary warriors, Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj. While it doesn’t delve deeply into his entire life, it highlights significant moments that showcase his commitment to ‘swaraj’ as a true soldier.
The film stars Vicky Kaushal and Rashmika Mandanna, along with Akshaye Khanna, who portrays the main antagonist, the Mughal emperor Aurangzeb. The cast also includes Ashutosh Rana, Divya Dutta, Diana Penty, and Vineet Kumar Singh in important roles.
