BJP candidate at Ward 24 in Ambala Sadar wins unopposed

Ambala:

Mahesh Nagar, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidate for Ward 24 in Ambala Sadar Municipal Council (MC), has been elected unopposed on Tuesday. His sole opponent, independent candidate for Ward 24, Kiran, was disqualified due to discrepancies in her nomination documents.
Following his unopposed election, Nagar visited the BJP office on Nicholson Road in Ambala Cantonment to seek blessings from Haryana cabinet minister Anil Vij. Minister Vij and BJP workers welcomed Nagar with a garland of flowers.
In the same vein, a meeting of the BJP’s election committee for the Ambala Sadar MC elections was convened at the party’s central election office.
Assistant returning officer Ambala Cantonment tehsildar Priyanka said that earlier on Tuesday, the scrutiny of nomination papers for the Ambala Sadar MC elections was conducted. For the position of MC president, four nominations were accepted, while 113 nominations were accepted for the position of MC members, she said.
She added that five nomination papers were received for the MC president position. After scrutiny, four were accepted, and one, submitted by independent candidate Mamta Rani, was rejected due to errors in the documents.
Priyanka said for the MC members, 114 candidates filed their nominations, with 113 accepted. One nomination, from independent candidate Kiran of Ward 24, was rejected due to document errors, she said.
Voting for the MC election is scheduled for March 2, 2025, with vote counting and result declaration on March 12.
