Allu Arjun reveals it took him three weeks to detach from 'Pushpa' role

Allu Arjun dedicated nearly five years to the action drama ‘Pushpa’ franchise, a role that has highly impacted his career. In a recent interview, he shared about detaching himself from the character of Pushpa Raj after the filming.
During an interview with The Hollywood Report, the actor revealed that it took him approximately three weeks to fully transition out of the role.
The actor explained that he can only move on from a character once he feels he is completely done with the movie. Allu Arjun acknowledged that characters do leave an impact on him for the duration of shooting, but he is able to move forward once the project is completed. After ‘Pushpa,’ it took him about three weeks to fully shed the character, a process completed after promotions when he shaved off his hair and beard.
Allu Arjun mentioned that he doesn’t look back on the past characters once he has moved on from them. He stated, “Life moves on, new challenges come, new exciting ones. I need to make a mark again. Pushpa is just one face. It’s one beautiful face. It’s not everything.
The ‘Pushpa’ franchise, directed by Sukumar, centres on Pushpa Raj, a labourer who rises to become a sandalwood smuggler, confronting threats from various enemies along the way. The film features also Rashmika Mandanna and Fahadh Faasil in leading roles.

His portrayal of Pushpa Raj earned him his first-ever National Award for Best Actor in 2021.
‘Pushpa 2: The Rule,’ released in December 2024, received mixed to positive responses. The film continues the cat-and-mouse game between Pushpa and Shekhawat. Allu Arjun’s performance in ‘Pushpa 2’ has been described as electrifying.

At the end of ‘Pushpa 2: The Rule,’ it was revealed that a third installment, titled ‘Pushpa 3: The Rampage,’ is planned.
