Champions Trophy: Three arrested in Goa for betting on India-Bangladesh match

NEW DELHI: Law enforcement authorities in Goa conducted a raid on a rented bungalow in the village of Pilerne, located near the state capital Panaji, on Thursday. The operation was carried out based on credible intelligence received regarding illegal betting activities taking place at the premises.
During the raid, three individuals, identified as Maksud Modan (28), Aasifbhai Jiyaudeenbhai (25), and Rizvan Bhash (20), all hailing from the state of Gujarat, were apprehended by the police.
These individuals were found to be engaged in accepting bets on the Champions Trophy cricket match between India and Bangladesh, which was being played in Dubai.

The police spokesperson confirmed that the three individuals were arrested and booked under relevant sections of the Goa Daman and Diu Public Gambling Act.
The authorities seized various items used in facilitating illegal betting activities, including four mobile phones, a laptop, and a router, collectively valued at approximately Rs 1.1 lakh.
