Several players eyeing satcom services: Jyotiraditya Scindia

New Delhi: Not only Elon Musk’s Starlink but other players have sought permission to start their satellite communication services in India, communications minister Jyotiraditya Scindia said on Friday.
The minister said satellite services will complement the existing communication network and help cover rural areas. “We have given two licences, one to Reliance and other to Airtel. For satellites, we have a number of companies that are in pipeline that have applied.”
Scindia, however, said that the companies need to comply with the domestic regulations to commence operations.
