Pain can be one of eye cancer’s initial stages, and unresponsive redness or irritation signals a possible warning sign. The irritation develops into a scratchy or burning sensation that becomes more severe with time. Tumors lead to inflammation, along with swollen blood vessels near the affected area which results in redness. The tumor becomes painful when it expands past the eye structures or when internal pressure rises.

When to See a Doctor
A health professional should immediately check your eyes when you experience any of these symptoms, especially if they do not improve or become worse. Early detection enables vision preservation together with better treatment outcomes. People with light-colored eyes and those who have melanoma in their family, or experience considerable sun exposure, need to schedule routine eye examinations because their risk factor may be elevated.
