Zeenat Aman says she would have loved to do THIS role of Priyanka Chopra, reveals why she stopped working: 'Sick of the public eye'

Zeenat Aman who was considered an icon in the 70s, continues to remain so now. Not just because of the work she left behind in the 70s and 80s but because she broke many stereotypes and continues to inspire the younger generation even today. With her presence on social media, Zeenat is winning the internet and how! The veteran actress had an ‘ask me anything (AMA)’ session on Reddit and she answered some interesting questions from netizens.
The ‘Satyam Shivam Sunderam’ actress was asked about the one role in current times that she thought she would have done well. Responding to it, she said, “I don’t know whether I would have nailed it, but I would have loved the chance to play Priyanka Chopra’s character in Bajirao Mastani. It was a complex role that piqued my interest.”
A user asked her why she left working in Bollywood and if she had stopped getting work that time. The actress said, “It was a conscious decision. I was saturated with work, sick of the public eye and just wanted to focus on my family!”
In the same session, Zeenat was asked about the difference between the 70s and the current times. “I know people like to criticise the Hindi film industry and much of it is valid. But I think a major and positive improvement I see is that there are women at every rung of the process pulling their weight and claiming their place with competence. In my time it wasn’t unusual to be the only woman on set! So this is a striking difference to me,” she responded.
She was also asked about her upcoming projects or if she would like to do any series. She revealed that she has an important role in a film called ‘Bun Tikki’ and will be seen in the web-series called ‘The Royals’.
