Yuzvendra Chahal and RJ Mahvash's videos spark 'double standards' debate; netizens say Dhanashree Verma 'deserves Rs 60 crore alimony now'

Indian cricketer Yuzvendra Chahal has found himself under the scanner, this time over his viral videos with RJ Mahvash at Sunday’s Champions Trophy.
The clips, which show the duo enjoying a cricket match together, have reignited speculation about their relationship status. While some claim that the two are ‘just friends’, others speculate that something could be brewing under the radar.
While Mahvash had previously dismissed dating rumours in December, stating they were just ‘friends,’ the new videos of the two having a blast together at the match have prompted fresh discussions, leaving netizens divided. Many users took to social media to call out perceived ‘double standards’, questioning how the situation would be perceived if Chahal’s estranged wife, Dhanashree Verma, was in his place.
“People are celebrating Chahal, but imagine the outrage if Dhanashree were in the same situation,” one user tweeted, echoing a sentiment that resonated with many. Another post read, “Imagine the outrage if Dhanashree or Natasha [Stankovic] were spotted like this just after divorce.”
Some even suggested that infidelity could have played a role in Chahal’s split from Dhanashree, with one fan claiming, “Chahal cheated on Dhanashree, yet people still blame the woman after divorce without knowing the full story.”
The discussion took an interesting turn when users referenced recent reports suggesting that Dhanashree allegedly demanded Rs 60 crore in alimony. One user tweeted, “Dhanashree deserves 60 crore alimony now.” However, Dhanashree’s family refuted these claims in a statement to Bombay Times, saying, “We are deeply outraged by the baseless claims being circulated about the alimony figure. No such amount has ever been asked, demanded, or even offered. There is no truth to these rumours whatsoever.”
Comparisons were also drawn to Hardik Pandya’s split from wife Natasa Stankovic and his alleged romance with Jasmin Walia. Social media users highlighted a recurring pattern in public reactions, stating, “At the time of Naga and Sam’s divorce—people blamed Samantha. At the time of Hardik and Natasha’s divorce—people blamed Natasha. At the time of Chahal and Dhanashree’s divorce—people blamed Dhanashree. This society is always ready to blame women for every issue.”
Another user criticised the harsh scrutiny faced by women post-divorce, saying, “Imagine? The audacity of people to abuse Natasha and Dhanashree just because they take a picture with male friends, while their ex-husbands gain all the public sympathy.”
Meanwhile, all eyes are now on Chahal and Mahvash, to see if there was some truth to the rumours all along.
