'Worse than Ranveer Allahbadia,' say netizens as this life insurance ad aired during the India Vs Pakistan match; faces severe backlash- See inside

The India vs. Pakistan match captivated millions, providing advertisers with a golden opportunity to showcase their campaigns. However, a recent life insurance ad has sparked widespread backlash on social media, with many criticizing it for its apparent lack of empathy.
The ad, promoted by a well-known insurance marketplace, features a grieving woman expressing frustration over her husband’s failure to purchase term life insurance before his death. In the commercial, she laments, “Main school ki fees kaise bharungi, ghar ka kharcha bhi hai?” (How will I pay the school fees? There are also household expenses…. She then turns to a framed photograph of her late husband, adorned with a garland, and questions, “Tum toh term life insurance liye bina hi chale gaye” (You left without even buying term life insurance).
While the ad was seemingly intended to spread awareness about financial security, it has not been well received by netizens. Many have criticized it for being tone-deaf and insensitive, with some even comparing it to Ranveer Allahbadia’s recent controversial remarks.
For context, Ranveer has been embroiled in controversy following his appearance on Samay Raina’s show India’s Got Latent, where he asked a contestant, “Would you rather watch your parents have s*x for the rest of your life or would you join in once and stop it forever?” His comment led to severe backlash and multiple FIRs against him.
Meanwhile, social media users have not held back their criticism of the insurance ad. One user wrote, “A man just passed away, and the first thing his wife does is blame him for not buying term insurance? This isn’t financial awareness; it’s just insensitive storytelling.”

Another commented, “Not just insensitive but downright disgusting.” Someone else remarked, “This ad is an insult to men and humanity. Worse than Ranveer Allahbadia.” Another user pointed out, “Even her dialogue delivery is filled with anger towards her late husband. How heartless can the makers of this ad be?”
However, some have defended the ad, arguing that it reflects harsh financial realities that many families face.
Meanwhile, Ranveer Allahbadia and Ashish Chanchlani were recently summoned by the Maharashtra Cyber Cell. Reports suggest that Ranveer has admitted to his mistake, acknowledging that his comment was inappropriate. He also mentioned that he participated in the show because of his friendship with Samay Raina.
