Rathore was bought by Rajasthan Royals for Rs 30 lakh during the IPL 2025 mega auction. He joined the Royals as one of three wicketkeeper-batters in their squad, alongside captain Sanju Samson and Dhruv Jurel.
Who’s that IPL player?
Before his IPL debut, Rathore had established himself in domestic cricket, scoring 254 runs in 12 T20 matches for Rajasthan at an average of 36.28 and a strike rate of 138, including one half-century. He has also played 15 first-class matches and 16 List A matches, further building his reputation as a versatile player.
A fan of South African wicketkeeper-batter Quinton de Kock, Rathore has often cited him as an inspiration, admiring de Kock’s batting and wicketkeeping skills. Rathore’s journey to professional cricket was not easy, as Kota is primarily known for its educational institutions rather than a cricketing culture.
Despite initial resistance from his parents, who wanted him to focus on studies, Rathore’s passion for the sport eventually led them to support his decision.
