Bollywood veteran actress Rekha has always been in the news and her love story with Amitabh Bachchan is known to all. Well, in 2015 Rekha and Jaya Bachchan surprised everyone as they hugged each other at an award show. The two beautiful veteran actresses attended the Star Screen Awards when Amitabh Bachchan won the Best Actor award for Piku. As the winner was announced, Amitabh Bachchan went on the stage to accept the prize and immediately Rekha ran towards Jaya and hugged her. Rekha who was seated at a distance from the couple ran towards Jaya. The ladies watched Big B grab the award. Rekha hugged her Didibhai ‘Jaya Bachchan’

Filmmaker Subhash Ghai announced Amitabh Bachchan’s name with Ranveer Singh who gave the award to Big B. Rekha raised eyebrows when she attended Simi Garewal’s Rendezvous in 2001. She was asked if she was ever in love with Amitabh Bachchan. Rekha called the question ‘dumb’ and said that there is no person in the country who does not love Big B. She said that she is in love with him. She even said that there was never a personal connection with him and there was no truth to the controversies and speculation. During the same interview, Rekha also hailed Jaya Bachchan as she praised her for her strength and dignity. Rekha revealed that she admired Jaya Bachchan and said that, ‘Didibhai is much more mature and said that she has yet to come across a woman who is so together.’ She also added saying that they had an association before the so-called rumours and the media messed up the whole image.

Rekha and Amitabh Bachchan worked together in several films including Muqaddar Ka Sikandar, Mr Natwarlal and more. Rekha and Amitabh Bachchan were some of the most special and loved jodis that managed to rule hearts with their on-screen chemistry. Rekha, Jaya and Amitabh Bachchan shared the screen in Silsila which was directed by Yash Chopra in 1981. This film was the last wherein Amitabh and Rekha starred together. The film tanked upon release leaving everyone curious about the ongoing speculations linking its narrative to the rumoured real-life affair. On the work front, Rekha last appeared in the movie Super Nani in 2014. She has made special appearances in Shamitabh and Yamla Pagla Deewana: Phir Se.
