When Ranbir Kapoor clarified his 'mauke pe chauka maar diya' comment on Aishwarya Rai Bachchan's intimate scenes in Ae Dil Hai Mushkil

Ranbir Kapoor and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan set the screen on fire with their sizzling chemistry in Ae Dil Hai Mushkil. Their on-screen romance created a massive buzz, but a lighthearted comment by Ranbir during a radio interview didn’t sit well with the Bachchan family.
Ranbir recalled feeling nervous while filming intimate scenes with Aishwarya, admitting that even touching her cheeks made him shy. However, Aishwarya, being a seasoned professional, encouraged him to perform naturally, reminding him that they were simply acting.
In a playful tone, Ranbir added, “Tabhi maine socha, kabhi aisa mauka milega nahi, so maine bhi mauke pe chauka maar diya!” (I thought, I won’t get this chance again, so I made the most of it!).
His remark reportedly didn’t go down well with the Bachchans. According to a leading daily, a close friend of the family revealed that while the Bachchans had no objections to the film’s scenes, they found Ranbir’s comment inappropriate and embarrassing.

Realizing the controversy, Ranbir quickly addressed the matter, clarifying that his words had been misinterpreted. He emphasized his deep respect for Aishwarya, calling her a phenomenal actor and a family friend.
“Aishwarya is one of India’s most talented and respected women. I will always be grateful for her contribution to Ae Dil Hai Mushkil. I could never disrespect her like that,” he stated, as per PTI.

Interestingly, Aishwarya and Ranbir have known each other since Aa Ab Laut Chalen (1999), directed by his father, Rishi Kapoor. While Aishwarya played the leading lady, Ranbir worked as an assistant director, making their Ae Dil Hai Mushkil collaboration even more special.
