When Ranbir Kapoor called grandfather Raj Kapoor's Holi parties 'scary': 'Everyone was being thrown into trucks...'

Ranbir Kapoor reminisced about his childhood at Raj Kapoor’s grand Holi parties at RK Studios. While the Kapoor family has been a key part of Bollywood, Ranbir admitted feeling scared by the vibrant and chaotic celebrations his grandfather hosted.
Ranbir had attended the 55th International Film Festival of India (IFFI), where a special tribute was held for his grandfather, Raj Kapoor, ahead of his 100th birth anniversary on December 14, 2024. During the event, he spoke with filmmaker Rahul Rawail about the grand Holi parties at RK Studios.
Raj Kapoor’s Holi parties were attended by the biggest names in the entertainment industry. Recalling his childhood memories, Ranbir Kapoor admitted that as a kid, he found people covered in colors quite scary.Ranbir also shared that as a young child, he found the Holi celebrations overwhelming. He recalled seeing people covered in black and other colors, with many being thrown into trucks, which made the environment feel intimidating to him.
The young actor agreed with Rahul Rawail, recalling how everyone would be covered in different colors during the celebrations. He described it as a grand day of festivity and joy.
Ranbir shared that these celebrations were special as they brought together everyone, from top stars like Amitabh Bachchan and Nargis to production staff and crew members.

Filmmaker Rahul Rawail recalled that the massive crowd at Raj Kapoor’s Holi parties often became unmanageable since anyone could join in. As the chaos grew over time, Raj Kapoor eventually decided to stop hosting these celebrations.
Meanwhile, Ranbir was last seen in Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s blockbuster Animal alongside Anil Kapoor, Rashmika Mandanna, Triptii Dimri, and Bobby Deol.
