In a flashback to an interview with DNA in 2011, Bollywood actress Katrina Kaif heaped praise upon veteran actresses Rekha and Madhuri Dixit, for their superior dance abilities. “Rekha and Madhuri are way better dancers than me,” Kaif modestly told DNA.

katrina Kaif, who became famous for her own mesmerizing dance performances on songs such as ‘Sheila Ki Jawani,’ reminisced about the changing face of dance in Bollywood. She pointed out the growing size and global popularity of song and dance numbers, crediting it to the heavy investment of money, time, and creative thought. “Today Bollywood songs have a universal appeal and today everyone seems to like them. I think it’s a wonderful trend, because our songs are also getting bigger and better,” she said.

When questioned on whether she could compare herself as a dancer to her predecessors Rekha and Madhuri, Katrina opted instead to praise their own consistent and high-quality careers. “I believe that they are excellent dancers and they’ve maintained a constant rate of performing for years. I believe that it’s challenging to keep pace with the kind of career route which they’ve designed for themselves,” she acknowledged. While speaking of her own pleasure in dancing, she reaffirmed her opinion that Madhuri and Rekha are “far better” than her.
It was then that Katrina had also judged an online dance competition for ‘Etihad Airways’ and highlighted the global popularity of Bollywood dance. She talked about how she was stunned to see such talented individuals from across the world expressing their passion for Bollywood dance, highlighting the fact that even a French dweller had won the competition.
Significantly, Katrina made it clear that she did not intend on doing any item numbers after “Sheila Ki Jawani” came through, in particular declining Delhi Belly participation.
Katrina Kaif remains a leading figure in Bollywood, demonstrating her dance abilities in several movies. Madhuri Dixit is also active in the industry, starring in movies and as a judge on dance reality shows. Both actresses are recognized as skilled dancers in their own right.
