Lord Shiva is worshipped in many different ways. There is meditation, there is praying to the Shivling, the Rudra abhishek, the Jalabhishek, the chanting, and of course, maintaining a pure heart and mind. And the chantings come in the form of mantras and jaaps. There is the Beej mantra of ‘Om Namah Shivaay’, the ever-powerful mantra. There is the Rudra Gayatri mantra, a prayer for wisdom and spiritual growth, there is the Shivtandav Stotram, energetic and full of enthusiasm, and of course, the Mahamrityunjay mantra, considered the ever-powerful and life saving to say the least.
