External affairs minister S Jaishankar has delivered a stern warning to Pakistan, declaring that India will not hesitate to strike deep within Pakistani territory if faced with terrorist provocations.“If they are deep in Pakistan, we will go deep into Pakistan,” Jaishankar asserted during a POLITICO interview in Brussels, where he was attending high-level EU trade talks. The minister’s remarks come weeks after India launched ‘Operation Sindoor’ targetting terror camps in Pakistan and PoK.The hostilities were triggered by the deadly Pahalgam terrorist attack that killed 26 civilians.Describing Pakistan as “a country very steeped in its use of terrorism as an instrument of state policy,” Jaishankar claimed that Pakistan continues to train “thousands” of terrorists and deploy them across the border. He affirmed that India would not tolerate such actions, warning of retribution against terrorist organisations and their leadership.Speaking to POLITICO, Jaishankar highlighted the effectiveness of air strikes in degrading Pakistan’s military infrastructure. He pointed to the successful targeting of major Pakistani airfields on May 10, which played a decisive role in ending the four-day military confrontation between the two nations.“The proof of the pudding is in the destroyed and disabled airfields on the Pakistani side,” he asserted, noting that satellite imagery available on Google could verify the damage to Pakistani runways and hangars. While Jaishankar remained circumspect about specific aircraft losses, he indicated that relevant authorities would address these details at an appropriate time. The hostilities ended after both nations reached an understanding.
