Waymo is starting to take San Francisco passengers to the airport.

The Alphabet-owned company said in a blog post Thursday that it is opening up San Francisco International Airport access to a select number of customers, and will gradually welcome all riders over the coming months.

Pickups and drop-offs will initially take place at the airport’s rental car center, and will eventually expand to additional locations like terminals. Waymo began driving passengers on freeways late last year, a necessary step to move into airport transportation.

“Serving rides to and from San Francisco International Airport delivers one of the most requested features for our riders and further deepens our relationship with the city,” Waymo co-CEO Tekedra Mawakana said in a blog post. “With millions traveling in for major events this year, we look forward to meeting the growing demand for reliable, fully autonomous rides.”

SFO marks Waymo’s third major airport, as the company moves further into territory that’s been dominated in recent years by Uber and Lyft. Waymo currently provides pickups and drop-offs at San Jose Mineta International Airport and Phoenix Sky Harbor International airport.
