
NEW DELHI: Team India superstar Virat Kohli on Sunday featured in his milestone 300th ODI match against New Zealand in the ICC Champions Trophy in Dubai.
Ahead of the last group game of the tournament, Kohli’s teammates extended their wishes, acknowledging his contributions to Indian cricket.
In a video posted by the BCCI, Team India members were seen congratulating Kohli on the feat, sharing their love and respect for the batting virtuoso.
“Playing 300 ODIs is a huge achievement. Whatever you have done for the country has been incredible. I wish that you maintain your fitness and keep delivering match-winning performances. The way we have enjoyed playing cricket with you, I hope that continues. All the best,” said pacer Mohammed Shami.
“You have set a benchmark for a lot of youngsters out there. I am looking forward to playing alongside you in many more games,” Shreyas Iyer said.

In India’s last game, Kohli’s unbeaten ton against Pakistan elevated him to fifth position in the ICC ODI rankings. He became the third player to cross 14,000 runs in ODI cricket.
Kohli is now just 149 runs away from Kumar Sangakkara’s second position in all-time run charts. He trails Sachin Tendulkar by 4,341 runs, who leads the list.
In his previous 299 ODI appearances, Kohli has accumulated 14,085 runs with an average of 58.20 and a strike rate of 93.41. His record includes 51 centuries and 73 fifties, with a highest score of 193.
Kohli holds the record for being the fastest to reach several milestones in ODI cricket. He achieved 8,000 runs in 175 innings, 9,000 in 194 innings, 10,000 in 205 innings, 11,000 in 222 innings, 12,000 in 242 innings, 13,000 in 287 innings, and 14,000 in 299 innings.
