Mumbai Indians owner Nita Ambani was seen having an intense discussion with former captain Rohit Sharma following their IPL 2025 match against Kolkata Knight Riders at Wankhede Stadium on Monday, where Mumbai secured an 8-wicket victory despite Sharma’s continued poor performance with the bat.
Mumbai Indians dominated the match after winning the toss and choosing to bowl first. Debutant pacer Ashwani Kumar impressed with a 4-wicket haul, helping restrict KKR to 116 runs.

The chase was comfortable for Mumbai Indians, who reached the target in 12.5 overs with 43 balls remaining. Ryan Rickelton led the charge with 62 runs off 41 balls, including 4 fours and 5 sixes.
Suryakumar Yadav contributed with an explosive 27 runs off 9 balls, featuring 3 fours and 2 sixes.
Rohit Sharma’s performance continued to be a concern as he managed only 13 runs off 12 balls before being dismissed by Andre Russell in the sixth over.
Sharma’s form in IPL 2025 has been disappointing, with scores of 0 and 8 in the previous matches against Chennai Super Kings and Gujarat Titans respectively.
His recent IPL record shows only 141 runs in his last 10 innings. Since 2022, Sharma holds the unwanted record of most dismissals inside the first six overs in IPL with 29 dismissals, ahead of Wriddhiman Saha who has 24.
The post-match interaction between Nita Ambani and Rohit Sharma appeared serious, though the exact nature of their discussion is unclear.
Rickelton, who played a key role in the chase, shared his thoughts on playing in the IPL: “Yeah, nice to take those steps forward in my personal game. The last 12-18 months have been really promising for me. But the IPL is a new challenge and learning new things about this tournament as well as my game and hopefully, I kick on.”
Rickelton, playing his first tournament in India, also added: “It’s my first time in India. I missed all of South Africa’s tour in the past. Just the culture and how much they love the game. The conditions here are opening my eyes along the way. Hopefully, I can adapt my game accordingly and obviously try to be successful here.”
