Maha Kumbh mela took place from January 13 to February 26 in Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh. Devotees took a holy dip at Sangam, where the Ganga, Yamuna, and the mythical Saraswati rivers meet.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his counterpart Navinchandra Ramgoolam also laid a wreath at Sir Seewoosagur Ramgoolam Botanical Garden. The prime minister laid a wreath at the concrete ‘Samadhi’ of Sir Seewoosagur Ramgoolam, the founding father of Mauritius.
Earlier, Modi was welcomed at the airport upon arrival. This is PM Modi’s first visit to Mauritius since 2015.
Mauritius Prime Minister Ramgoolam and other leaders gave a ceremonial welcome, ministry of external Affairs Spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said.
“This shows the strong relationship of India and Mauritius,” Jaiswal posted on X.
After paying homage to Seewoosagur Ramgoolam, Modi met the President and will attend the State lunch, Jaiswal said.
