Virat Kohli plays his 300th one-day international on Sunday as India take on New Zealand in Dubai to conclude the group stage of the ICC Champions Trophy, and the batting legend is not just the focus of attention for his fans but continues to mesmerized legends like Sir Vivian Richards, who went on to admire that Kohli’s energy and passion in every aspect of the game as “things hat I cherish”.
Kohli scored a match-winning century in the game against Pakistan a week ago to end the wait for another hundred in 50-over internationals, which took his tally of hundreds in ODIs to 51 — the most by any batter.

“His energy, I think, is very important… and his passion. And these are things that I cherish,” said Richards talkingto reporters.
“But just the energy, seeing him on the boundary… he’s far away, and there’s an appeal for leg before, and he’s shouting, he’s appealing as well…he goes to show you his involvement in the game all the time. There’s a passion for that. And there’s not a moment that goes on the field that Virat Kohli misses. He’s just magnificent in that way,” he added.
Like in the 2023 ODI World Cup, India will once again look up to Kohli to continue his liking for ICC tournaments by continuing to fire in the remaining part of this Champions Trophy.
During the 2023 ODI World Cup hosted in India, Kohli achieved a significant milestone by establishing a new tournament record for the highest run aggregate. His remarkable performance included accumulating 765 runs across 11 matches, featuring three centuries and six fifties.
