Viineet Kumar Siingh reveals he thought it was a prank when Ranbir Kapoor called him after watching his movie 'Ugly': 'Koi zaroorat nahi thi...'

Viineet Kumar Siingh was recently seen in the Vicky Kaushal-starrer ‘Chhaava‘, and he shared a surprising moment in his career when he received an unexpected phone call from Ranbir Kapoor. Ranbir called Vineet to appreciate his performance in Anurag Kashyap’s Ugly. However, Viineet initially thought it was a joke and took a moment to process the situation.
In an interview with ABP News, the ‘Chhaava’ actor recalled his disbelief when he answered the call. “When he (Ranbir) watched Ugly in 2013, I got a call, and the person said, ‘Hello Vineet, main Ranbir bol raha hoon.’” I said, ‘Haan, kaun?’ Ugly hadn’t even been released at that time, but he had already watched it. I couldn’t believe it when he said that he was Ranbir Kapoor. In the last 13 years, nothing of that sort has happened,” he added.

The ‘Jaat‘ actor thought it was a prank call from his friends and, therefore, responded rudely. He was sure that some of his mischievous friends were trying to pull his leg. “I said again, ‘Kaun hai, bata de bhai?’ Then it was confirmed that it was really him. We then talked for quite a while. He said so many good things about Ugly,” he added.
Viineet also spoke about the significance of actors appreciating each other’s work. He admired Ranbir’s humility, saying, “Main kya hi de dunga Ranbir Kapoor ko? Koi zaroorat nahi thi unhe mujhe yeh bataane ki, so this is a good gesture.” He further mentioned that whenever he feels Ranbir has done good work in his films, he always tells him. The two share a mutual respect for each other.
