According to a report by Kolkata-based daily, The Statesman, around noon on Sunday, a group of seven to eight armed robbers, aged between 22 and 25 years, stormed the jewelry showroom. They seized the carbines of private security guards and looted ornaments from the store within fifteen minutes.

The publication further reported that the police suspect the armed men to be gang members from Jharkhand. One of the individuals is believed to have been injured in the exchange of fire with the police.

In an update provided by West Bengal police on X, it was stated that four of the robbers hijacked a car after shooting the driver in the Asansol-Dakshin Thana area.
