Filmmaker Zoya Akhtar is gearing up for the release of her much-anticipated production, Superboys of Malegaon. Backed by her banner Tiger Baby, in collaboration with Excel Entertainment, the film is directed by Reema Kagti and is set for a theatrical release on February 28. Ahead of its debut, the makers hosted a star-studded screening on Monday night, attended by several industry celebrities.
The guest list included veteran lyricist and poet Javed Akhtar along with his wife, actress Shabana Azmi. Rising stars Vedang Raina and Khushi Kapoor were also spotted, alongside Arhaan Khan, Alizeh Agnihotri, and Shweta Bachchan Nanda. Producers Ritesh Sidhwani and Vikramaditya Motwane, actors Avinash Tiwary, Shalini Pandey, Anjali Anand, Ali Fazal, Ishaan Khatter, Veer Pahariya, Raashii Khanna, and Medha Shankr were among the other notable attendees.
Superboys of Malegaon stars Adarsh Gourav in the lead role, portraying Nasir Shaikh, a real-life filmmaker from Malegaon known for crafting spoofs of Bollywood and Hollywood films. The film also features Vineet Kumar Singh, Shashank Arora, and a strong ensemble cast.
Adding to the excitement, the film’s first song, Bande, recently dropped, composed by the acclaimed duo Sachin-Jigar. The track serves as a musical tribute to resilience, passion, and the indomitable spirit of dreamers.
The song also marks a milestone for Tiger Baby Records, the music label helmed by Zoya Akhtar, Reema Kagti, and Ankur Tewari. Superboys of Malegaon is the label’s first step into the world of film music, further amplifying its significance in the industry.
