Vaibhav Suryavanshi makes history as youngest IPL debutant at age 14
Vaibhav Suryavanshi has been named as an Impact Sub by Rajasthan Royals against Lucknow Super Giants in IPL 2025. He is the youngest debutant in the league’s history.

Fourteen-year-old Vaibhav Suryavanshi became the youngest player to make his Indian Premier League debut as he replaced injured captain Sanju Samson in Rajasthan Royals’ match against Lucknow Super Giants on Saturday evening.
Born in 2011, Suryavanshi achieved a unique milestone by becoming the first IPL player who was born after the tournament’s inception in 2008.

The young debutant stepped in for Rajasthan Royals captain Sanju Samson, who was sidelined due to a side injury for the match against LSG.
This historic debut marks a significant moment in IPL history, with Suryavanshi breaking the record for the youngest player to feature in the tournament since its beginning in 2008.

IPL Auction: Rajasthan Royals make Vaibhav Suryavanshi youngest IPL crorepati

At the toss, RR stand-in captain Riyan Parag mentioned Suryavanshi has been added to the Impact Substitutes bench with an indication of involvement at some point.
“We were looking to bowl, it is a little bit warm under lights, should be better than the last time. Vaibhav the youngster comes in,” said Parag at the toss where LSG decided to bat.
“It’s been kinda tricky, we’ve been doing small bits right but we haven’t been able to put a collective performance together, we’ve been having honest chats as a team. We love playing here, we know the conditions well, hope we can put that to good use,” he added.
Suryavanshi had made history last year as well when the Bihar youngster was picked at the mega auction for Rs 1.1 crore. At 13 years old, he had become the youngest to bag an IPL deal.
Suryavanshi has a triple-century to his name – an unbeaten 332 – in the Randhir Verma Tournament, an U-19 competition in Bihar.
He’s played five first-class matches and scored 100 runs at an average of 10.00 at a strike rate of 63.29.
