Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami said that the injured have been sent to the nearest medical centre for treatment
As many as eight people were killed and seven others were injured after a tempo traveller fell into a deep gorge near the Rishikesh-Badrinath Highway in Uttarakhand’s Rudraprayag. The accident took place near the Alakananda River on the highway.
There were 23 passengers aboard the vehicle. Rescue operations are underway, said the State Disaster Response Force.
Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami said that the injured have been sent to the nearest medical centre for treatment.
Expressing concern over the accident, Dhami said the district magistrate has been ordered to investigate the matter.
“Received very sad news of a tempo traveller accident in Rudraprayag district. Local administration and SDRF teams are engaged in relief and rescue operations. The injured have been sent to the nearest medical center for treatment. The district magistrate has been ordered to investigate the incident. I pray to God to grant the souls of the departed a place in His feet and give strength to the bereaved family to bear this immense pain. I pray to Baba Kedar for the speedy recovery of the injured,” the Chief Minister posted on his X account.
This comes days after three women were killed after a bus fell into a gorge near Gangnani on the Gangotri National Highway in Uttarakhand.
