Due to financial constraints, she chose to discharge her husband and use the private ambulance for the journey home on the evening of August 29. During the trip, the driver and helper allegedly harassed her

A woman has alleged that she was sexually assaulted by an ambulance driver and his aide while travelling with her terminally ill husband and her brother. The accused reportedly disconnected her husband’s oxygen support, leading to his death. Additionally, the woman claimed that the ambulance staff robbed her of cash and personal belongings.

The woman had hired the private ambulance from the Ghazipur (Indiranagar) police station area. Her brother, who was also with them, was confined to the driver’s cabin during the incident.

The woman’s husband had been receiving treatment at a private hospital in Lucknow. Due to financial constraints, she chose to discharge her husband and use the ambulance for the journey home on the evening of August 29.

The woman alleged that, on their way, the ambulance driver instructed her to sit in the front seat so they would not be stopped by the police at night due to her presence, as per The Times of India report.

“I was forced to sit in the front seat and then the driver and his companion started molesting me. I objected but they did not listen to me,” she alleged.

“My husband sensed my trouble and he and my brother started shouting. However, both kept molesting me, while I kept fighting with them. They later stopped the ambulance on the main road of the Chhawani police station and forcibly removed the oxygen mask from my husband and threw him out. They locked my brother in the front cabin,” she stated.

The woman said they continued to sexually harass her and stole Rs 10,000 from her purse, along with her anklets, mangalsutra, Aadhaar card, and hospital reports.

After being tossed out of the van, the woman’s brother contacted local police, who arranged for another ambulance to transport the patient to Gorakhpur Medical College, where he was pronounced dead upon arrival.

The woman has filed a police complaint at Ghazipur Police Station against the driver on Wednesday.

Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (North) of Lucknow, Jitendra Kumar Dubey, stated that a case has been registered based on the woman’s complaint. “Our teams are trying to arrest the accused,” he added.
