The video, which has since gone viral, shows Dr Gupta also providing the farmer with a PhonePe number, assuring an immediate transfer of Rs 50 to complete the bribe.

In a startling development from Uttar Pradesh’s Bulandshahr district, a video capturing an alleged act of bribery by the Deputy Chief Veterinary Officer (DCVO) has surfaced, causing a significant uproar within the local administration. The incident involves DCVO Dr Sumesh Gupta, who was reportedly caught on camera accepting Rs 150 illegally from a farmer seeking animal examination services at the Sadar Veterinary Hospital. The video, which has since gone viral, shows Dr Gupta also providing the farmer with a PhonePe number, assuring an immediate transfer of Rs 50 to complete the bribe.

The farmer, purportedly the bribe giver, recorded the video himself and circulated it widely. Following its dissemination, authorities swiftly responded. Chief Veterinary Officer Dr Anil Sharma took decisive action, relocating Dr Gupta from his post at the hospital to district headquarters pending further investigation.

Based on the viral video evidence, DCVO was found at fault and subsequently reassigned from the veterinary hospital to district headquarters. A thorough investigation into the matter is underway, and appropriate actions will be taken following the investigation’s findings, stated CVO Dr Anil Sharma.

This incident has sparked widespread attention and scrutiny across government circles, highlighting concerns over ethical conduct within public service sectors.
