Thug Life release date is finally out. Kamal Haasan confirmed it will hit cinemas in June 2025.

Kamal Haasan announced Thug Life’s release date. On the occasion of his 70th birthday, the Tamil superstar took to X and shared a new poster along with a teaser to reveal the release date. Kamal confirmed Thug Life will release on June 5, 2025. The poster features Kamal in a never-before-avatar, sporting a long hairdo and beard. However, he wasn’t alone in the blood red poster. He was joined by Silambarasan TR, who is playing a pivotal role in the film.
Besides the poster, Kamal also shared a new teaser which featured some new footage from the film. The teaser reiterated that Kamal will be seen in an action-avatar. The teaser also teased STR’s role. Kamal shared the poster and teaser with the caption, “Every role is an evolution, every film a journey. #Thuglife.” The film is directed by Mani Ratnam.

Kamal wrapped the filming for Thug Life in September. The film reunites director Mani Ratnam and actor Kamal Haasan after 35 years. Kamal began the shooting in January this year across various locations. The upcoming period gangster drama film is said to have Haasan in multiple roles. The film’s cast also features actors like Silambarasan, Trisha, Joju George, Ashok Selvan, Aishwarya Lekshmi, Gautham Karthik, Abhirami Gopikumar, and others. While Ravi K Chandran is handling the cinematography, AR Rahman is helming the musical part.
The Tamil superstar is not only starring in the film but is also co-producing it under his banner of Raaj Kamal Films International. He has also reportedly co-written Thug Life’s screenplay. According to a report by the Deccan Herald, Thug Life has already struck a record deal with streaming giant Netflix for its OTT rights.
