“As much fun as it has been to poke fun and heal from the whole breakup in this setting, I’m not in any way trying to discredit everything he’s accomplished in his career. If I had also been a ‘known’ person, this would’ve been business-as-usual breakup news, but because I’m mostly unknown, I think the complexities of this are more layered, and people are interested in understanding what that experience was like. I’m a pretty secure person, and I’ve always been happy with my success as an indie filmmaker and musician. I hope people who listen to my story feel empowered to share their stories, too.
