NEW DELHI:Congress leader Sandeep Dikshit on Sunday accused the BJP and Prime Minister Narendra Modi of repeatedly undermining political consensus, alleging the Centre deliberately rejected names proposed by Congress for multi-party delegations focused on combating cross-border terrorism.“The problem with the BJP and PM Modi is that they try to divide others everywhere,” Dikshit told ANI, adding, “It is the prerogative of the party to choose its representative when such committees are formed.”Dikshit further said that if the Centre had a preference, it should have consulted the Congress instead of unilaterally overriding nominations. “Otherwise, you say that only you will decide. It is not like this country has only two or three faces,” he remarked.The comments come amid growing resentment in Congress after the government named MP Shashi Tharoor to lead one of the seven delegations, while reportedly ignoring the full list of Congress nominees.Tharoor said he would diligently fulfil his assigned role, but noted that “while the party leadership is entitled to its opinions, my commitment remains steadfast.”Congress communications in-charge Jairam Ramesh called the move “dishonest on the government’s part,” while MP Manickam Tagore accused the PM of sidelining Opposition voices. “Before 2014, Prime Ministers maintained dignity by consulting the Leader of Opposition,” Tagore said.
