After the Super Moon and eclipse of September 18, the new moon on October 2 will coincide with the annual solar eclipse, this year’s being a ring of fire eclipse, which means that only the centre of the sun will be obscured revealing a thin ring of light around it. Astrotherapist Nour Pellé explains everything we need to know about this rare phenomenon and how it will affect us.
The new moon on October 2 will be accompanied by an annular eclipse that opens up a new path
“This type of eclipse is known for opening up new paths and ushering in new beginnings. It can help us reap the fruits of all we’ve sown over the past six months. It can also encourage us to plant new seeds, allowing new opportunities and new ways of being to take shape,” explains Pellé. Solar eclipses are powerful because they are believed to set things in motion. “Sometimes, they can bring changes that are difficult to manage but very often, over time, we’re able to see how we’ve landed in exactly the right place. Following this eclipse, we may feel a sudden shift, the opening of new paths and more mental clarity.”
The new moon in Libra focuses on our relationships
“Since this eclipse falls in the sign of Libra, it’s likely to bring about changes or new beginnings, particularly when it comes to interpersonal relationships,” says Pellé. We may discover new relationship dynamics or make adjustments to the roles others play in our lives. We may also need to set limits for some people or open up more to others. “Or we may simply find ourselves prioritising certain relationships over others.”
Mercury facilitates communication
“Mercury, the planet of communication and thought processes, is also very active under this eclipse,” reveals Pellé. We may therefore be able to communicate with greater ease, from which inspiring ideas may spring forth. We may also discover new, previously inaccessible information, gain clarity and be able to see a deeper truth.
The balance in energies will allow us to rethink our balance
“Our energy may be reduced under the effects of this eclipse, prompting us to pay attention to how we choose to spend it,” cautions Pellé. Libra is represented by scales so it’s a good time to balance, readjust and harmonise things, especially where our mind, body and spirit are concerned. “If sudden changes occur, it can be helpful to remember to take a balanced approach. We may be led to go with the flow in some aspects, and in others, be compelled to take matters into our own hands.”
