Just as quickly as it began, The Boys’ fourth series concluded with a bang (or several), which leaves us immediately wondering: will we be getting The Boys season 5 any time soon?
The fourth instalment of the series saw things dialled up a notch, with Homelander seemingly more crazed than ever, new unexpected Supes on the horizon and a whole lot of gore along the way.
Based on the bestselling comic created by Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson, The Boys follows a motley crew of vigilantes as they seek to take down corrupt Supes (superheroes, for the uninitiated), with there still being a lot of loose ends that need to be tied up following the season finale.
So what do we know about a potential The Boys season 5 so far?
Has The Boys season 5 been confirmed?
Yes! Amazon Prime renewed The Boys for a fifth season a few days before season 4 premiered back in June.
The Boys season 5 release date speculation
Though Prime Video is yet to announce a release date for The Boys season 5, based on previous release times we would expect to see new episodes arrive some time in summer 2026.
The first two seasons were released one year apart, with the most recent having a two year gap, so we’re hopeful that it won’t be an eternity.
In June 2024, The Boys showrunner Eric Kripke told Variety “It’s not totally locked in yet but we are going to start shooting around mid-November. And I don’t know when it’ll premiere yet, but we’ll be shooting well into middle of ’25.”
Is The Boys season 5 the final season?
Sadly for us, it’s long been the plan that season 5 would be the final instalment for The Boys, with showrunner Eric Kripke telling TVLine, “The truth is we knew that it was going to be a five-season story for years now. I mean, probably since writing the beginning of Season 3, we knew, and so we were already laying down track that was always heading in this direction.”
